Signs of Spring are beginning to show up.  The Snow fences on the City and Highland Park  beaches have been taken down and the sand is being moved back to where it belongs.  That’s a good sign!

The Snow fences are still up on the State Park beach

Where are we going to put the Carnival this year ?

Well they have started work on the second block of Washington.  The pavements up, the trees are down. And they are in the process of laying the new Sanitary sewer lines.  After that they will lay new storm sewer and water main lines.  The first block already has the new utility lines in the ground and the curbs poured.  The next step will be laying the new Snow Melt system water lines and finally the asphalt driving surface.  The completion date for both blocks is supposed to around June 20th.  Looks pretty bare with all the trees gone.

Didn’t take them long.  The City Council just approved the plan on March 2.  The building is going to get a face lift.

Last year the stretch of beach just south of the Bil-Mar and Highland park beach got washed away.  Fall and winter storms high winds and waves took the beach right up to the dune grass.  But it’s back this year.  Current water temp 34°

Last year 3/12/09

This year 3/11/10

Of course that doesn’t mean strong Spring storms won’t take it away again.  We’ll see.

Until I saw this photo I didn’t realize you could see the new Court House from here so well.  Looks a little to big to me.

It’s been pretty warm here the last week or so.  It was 57 yesterday.  I read that this is the earliest in March that all the lake ice was gone in 20 years.  I’m not sure what that might mean as far as spring getting here a little early.  But I’m fairly sure winter isn’t finished yet.  But, never mind that, the crews are out starting to clean up  the mess left by strong winds and plowing snow.  Last year I don’t think they were doing this until April.  When things finally started to warm up.  It’s kind of hard to move around frozen sand it’s like concrete until it thaws.

Not only do I have no idea what I’m doing. There are a lot of choices to make regarding how your blog looks.  How do I know how I want it to look.  I have no idea what I’m doing.  I know the first thing I have to do is choose a theme.  No problem, there are only 81 themes to choose from. It’s going to be a long night.  Fun, but long.
